Book Review: Safewords: Davenport & Chiffon

Today's review is on Safewords: Davenport and Chiffon by: Candace Blevins

Davenport:

First and foremost I must repeat the warning listed on Amazon for this book.  "This title contains graphic language, consensual BDSM, bondage, intense sensory deprivation, extreme electrical play, enemas, and the use of toys including clamps, canes, plugs, cages, paddles, whips, and floggers."  With that said, if these things excite you, then you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book.  And while the sex and exploration are almost nonstop, there is a also a fantastic story of loss and love.

Dana and Zach have both suffered the loss of their respective spouses and are trying to get on with their lives.  But love never tells you when its coming, and it jumps out at you at the most unexpected times.  In the case of these two, attraction is almost instantaneous when Dana is hired to redecorate Zach's home.  Dana makes it clear that she never dates her clients, so right after Zach hands over his final check ending their "business" relationship, he asks her out.

Though Dana is a Sub, she never thought she would be able to give herself over any other man, but there is no denying she is turned on by Zach and the many BDSM items he has in his home.  Not to mention his beautiful blue eyes.  And though Zach is a true Dom, he is not a Sadist, and Dana thrives on pain.

Will these two be able to overcome the obstacles?  Only time and a little exploration, both mentally and sexually will tell.

Chiffon:

Dana and Zach are happily enjoying each other and their growing relationship, and though there are a few bumps in the road, they work them out with understanding and communication.  But when a terrible accident leaves Dana beaten and bruised Zach seems unable to even look at her.  Thankfully Jacob and Brent are there for her.

Once back home, Dana is further hurt when Zach is unable or unwilling to accept her submission leaving her no choice but to pack her bag and leave.   Not willing to return any of Zach's calls or emails though doesn't give him the chance to explain, and their relationship falters.  With the help of Jacob and Brent, and a unique twist on the classic game of Twister, the lines of communication and understanding open and become stronger than ever.

Many times I found myself strongly connected to Dana in Chiffon.  I cried along with her and was filled with joy when things worked out for her proving that this is not just a book filled with sex, sex, and yet more sex.  It is also a book with a serious plot, a plot that you cannot help but to fall in love with.

I love books that can take me out of my comfort zone.  They offer a chance for reflection and thought.  Safewords: Davenport & Chiffon is one of those books.  It brings with it a chance for intellectual exploration, and who knows, maybe a chance for a little sexual exploration too.
