Today's review is on Killer Scents by Adelle Laudan
I love it
when a book is so engaging, that when I'm done it feels like I have just
seen a really good movie. Killer Scents did just that. A classic "who
done it" mystery, Killer Scents keeps you guessing at each turn.
Becca
hasn't been with a man since the death of her partner, that is besides a
one night stand with a handsome stranger. She also hasn't had another
partner. But that's about to change. There's a killer on the loose,
and he has targeted one of Becca's friends.
"The Florist"; as
he is called, sews the mouths of his victims shut with fishing line and
kills them with a single shot to the head, right between their eyes. He
calling card? A flower placed in their folded hands.
The Chief
wants nothing more than to catch this sick killer, so he calls in backup
to help his best detective. And when Becca and Randy recognize each
other from that long ago night, the attraction sparks back to life. Now
if they can only keep themselves under control until they catch the bad
guy. But that's not easy, and when Becca is abducted, all bets are
off. Randy loves Becca and will move both heaven and hell to get her
back safely.
Just when you think you know who the killer is,
Laudan proves you wrong and leads you down another path. And just when
you think you've reached the "happily ever after", she throws in another
twist. Could there be a follow-up to Killer Scents? I hope so.
But
even as good as I feel this book was, there is one thing I would like
to see. Less mistakes. No one person is able to catch all mistakes.
That's why I ALWAYS recommend having your manuscript proofed even after
your editor looks at it. Even after I edit a piece.

Becca and Randy are Harley riding detectives who join forces to find the
ruthless killer the press have dubbed The Florist. What does the flower
he places in his victim's hands have to do with the sick, twisted way
he ends their lives? Will they track him down before he strikes again,
or will a turn of events find one of them at the mercy of a demented
killer?
