Book Review: Dancing in the Flame

***NOT FOR READERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18***

Today's review is on Dancing in the Flame by Ann Gimpel

I really think that the novella is making a huge comeback. And one author that is paving the way is Gimpel. If you are not already a fan, this 83 page trip into a world she has created will make you an instant follower.

As most of you know, I have read a lot of Gimpel's books, but Dancing in the Flame hit me like a hammer. Her creative writing has the reader falling in love with the hero and heroine instantly. You cannot help but to feel their pain and crave their passion as your own. And boy did I wish I was living this one.

Keira's mother passed away after being crushed by a Werebear at Were Calls, the bordello where she worked as a prostitute. She never knew who her father was and figured it was just some John who happened to sleep with her mother on the night she was concieved. Thankfully though the Were's took her in instead of throwing her out on the street, but their kindness came at a price. Once Keira turned a certain age she became a bonded servant, turning tricks for Were Calls. Her only solace is when she leaves the bordello to check out the items in the local magic supply store. And to check out its owner.

Barrett, one of the Daoine Sidhe, is immediately attracted Keira on her first visit to his shop. she was wet as a dog but beautiful non the less. He desperately wants to get to know her but he doesn't act upon it. He doesn't even know her name. But with each time she comes into his shop his courage builds. He follows her one day and is surprised to find that she is a hooker. But when his leader and friend Caelin asks him for help in rescuing her from the Were's, he jumps at the chance. He doesn't care what her "profession" is, he has to be with her.

With a little magical help, Barrett poses as a Were looking for a good time at Were Calls and specifically asks for Kira. Though he tries to remind himself that he is "just doing a job", the attraction they both feel for each other is to strong and a night of passion ensues.

Secrets will be revealed, battles will be fought, and emotions will run hot. The question is, will love prevail?

Book Description: via Amazon

Life in a were bordello is all Keira has ever known. Because of her mixed blood, none of the magicians’ guilds want her, or protested when the Weres bound her as an indentured hooker. Mired in the hopelessness of her dreams, Keira longs for more.

Barrett, one of the Daoine Sidhe, runs a magician supply shop in what’s left of Seattle. No one is more surprised than he when the Sidhe leader commands him to extricate Keira from the weres.

Magic and intrigue throw Keira and Barrett into one another’s arms. Convinced they have a job to do, they struggle against the heat of the passion between them. Until it gets way too hot to handle.
